Artists’ Biographies
Amy Ashdown
Amy Ashdown is a wife, mother, and homemaker living on a small homestead in Greenwich, New York. She was born in New York and received her degree in Media Arts in 1995, from SUNY-Adirondack. She is an instructor and founding member of the CCMW and is currently on the faculty of the Canal Street Arts Center where she teaches studio art.
Ashdown’s mosaic is complemented by her fiber arts work. Her work can be found at the Olde Flax Mill Gallery Shop in Schuylerville, New York where she is an active member, and in private collections in New York and New England. She has collaborated on several local commercial commissions. Her mosaic work is presently displayed in the CCMW gallery space.
Geri Bowden
Geri Bowden is an artist living and working in upstate New York. She was born in Connecticut and received her MFA in Painting/Printmaking from SUNY-Albany in 1999. She subsequently attended Santa Reparata-Graphic Art Center in Florence, Italy. In 2007, she traveled to Venice, Italy, where she studied design and color with master mosaicist Lucio Orsoni. She is an instructor and founding member of the CCMW. She is currently on the faculty of the Canal Street Arts Center, where she is Director and Art History instructor. Bowden is refining her visual and conceptual vocabulary that emerged through her focus on the points of intersection between printmaking and mosaic.
In 2008, Bowden’s work was included in the Horses exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Her work can be found in public and private art collections in New York and New England. Her mosaic work is presently displayed in the CCMW gallery space.
Kim Macica
Kimberley Macica, a mosaicist and a fiber artist, lives and works in upstate New York. She was born in Texas and received her BA in Education in 1999, from Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She is a founding member of the CCMW. She is currently on the faculty of the Canal Street Arts Center where she teaches studio art.
Macica’s work can be found at the Olde Flax Mill Gallery Shop in Schuylerville, New York where she is an active member. Most recently she has merged her love for antiques with mosaic art. In 2011, her Colors of Burano was included in the National Mosaic Exhibition on Cape Cod. Her mosaic and fiber arts work can be found in private collections in New York and New England. Her mosaic work is presently displayed in the CCMW gallery space.
Kathy Moore
Kathy Moore, a talented mosaicist and professional cook, lives in Schuylerville on the Hudson River in New York. She was born in Connecticut and during the mid 1970s she attended SUNY – Schenectady Community College and then SUNY – Adirondack; where she gained the culinary skills for her previous occupation as head cook of the beloved village café, Eli’s. She is a founding member of the CCMW.
Moore has collaborated on several local commercial commissions. Her current studio work is in transition from representation to abstraction, a journey she is truly enjoying. Her mosaic work is presently displayed in the CCMW gallery space.
